A checklist of addresses to change when you move house in Australia.

In this story, I will highlight all possible places in Australia where you would need to change your address after you moved to a new location. Also, you may need to change the addresses for all adults living at addresses impacted by these changes. You may have subscribed paperless, but you still need to change it to avoid any paper delivery at your old place. This can reveal your identity, also there is notice period clause on cancellation with certain services (Internet or Swimming) which you can manage well before movement start. 1. Banks

• Find all the active or dormant bank accounts you have in Australia and change your address online.
• Must change the address for any overseas accounts from your native country.

2. Driving

• Change online — Log into myVicRoads : VicRoads (Victoria only)
• Find VIC Road Equivalents in your State if you live outside Victoria.
• E-Tags for toll tax
• Local Car Maintenance dealerships

3. State Transport card

• PTV Myki, VIC
• Opal Card, NSW
• Find Transport Card Equivalents in your State if you live outside Victoria.

3. Mobile SIMs

• All Active Postpaid Mobile Plans
• Don’t forget to update prepaid SIM address using their mobile app.

4. Insurance

• See if you ever purchased private insurance for overseas visitors. They may send the letter to the old address for marketing purposes.
• Changes to your current medical insurance provider — Bupa, Medi-Bank, Allianz etc.
• Any other type of insurance you would have like a home, appliances, car, bike, pet.

5. MyGoV

My Gov will let you update the address on the associated government sites in one go. Check if it is updated, if not, you will need to unlink or relink these services again.

• Medicare — Medicare — Services Australia
• Centrelink
• Many other government services like JobSeeker etc.

6. Super Fund

• Super fund addresses for all adults working.

7. Current Employer

• Ensure you change the address recorded at your current Employer.

Remember these companies send a lot of papers via post.

• Stock or Index fund, CHESS, ASX

11. Rewards Accounts

You can do this over time when placing an order online again.

• Everyday reward, Flybuy, Qantas, Kris Flyers, Velocity
• Dan-Murphy, Hoyts, Cotton-on etc.
• Myer, Zara, H&M etc.
• Mac-Pac, Kathmandu, BCF, Spotlight, Bunnings.
• NGO, Charity and Volunteering Organization.

12. NBN or Internet provider

• you may have a 5G wireless router but forgot to update the address.
• Don’t forget to cancel the internet in advance due to notice period clause.

13. Energy, Gas and Water Utility Company

• Don’t forget to cancel water, electricity, and gas from old places with a certain end date in mind.

14. Electoral Commission

• Enrol to vote — Australian Electoral Commission (aec.gov.au)

15. Any Club membership

• Golf, Swimming, Tennis or any other type of membership you have
• You may need to cancel at your old place in advance as there may be a notice period clause with the old swimming centre.

• Land Tax offices

• Also, the local Library

18. Any delivery company
